The step for this revamping by Niger State Governor, His Excellency Governor Umaru Mohammed Bago is a great thing for educational development of Niger state. It will reduce drastically many negative behaviors by the students such as:
i-Absenteeism from the boarding schools by the students due to starvation.
ii-Sharp practices like stealing and other circumstantial developing Criminalities.
iii-Better concentration of the students to learning is likely to be achieved.
iv-Students stands to have proper dieting for good learning.
However, much that the Government is painstakingly revamping this excellent project. Yet the Government must try to avoid the pitfalls that led to its cancellation or suspension. In addition to this, may I add the followings:
i-The Principal of these Schools must be warned from engaging in sharp practices. Proper prosecution and jail plus loss of their years of service shall be the ultimate punishment to such Principal or Head of School that abused this great project.
ii-The Food Contractors who would supply these schools with food items must be properly warned from any form of negativity or illegalities such as:
a-Supply of bad foods to schools.
b-Insufficiency or incorrect measurement to schools.
The Ministry of Education must prepare well by putting up good Contract Agreement with each Contractor/Supplier of foods to undertake this project with ultimate sincerity.
That its failure must be squarely heaped on the Ministry of Education, the would be affected School Principals or Heads and the Contractors/Suppliers of food items and each of this must be adequately punished for any form of abuse. It is then that, Government aims can be achieved.
Thanks to His Excellency to revamp this to our Boarding Schools. This will encourage parents more to send their Wards to State Boarding Schools and enhance the population of students in our schools.
