NEED TO SAVE OUR VILLAGES AND SEMI-TOWNS ACROSS NIGERIA FOR SUSTAINABILITY BY BARR. LAKPENE YUSUF BIDA Esq.

No Nation develops without its rural areas or villages supported towards directions of prosperities.Developed Nations in most cases hides their rapid developments indexes from Africans on the development of their rural and semi urban areas. They equally tend to ensure that African societies are not exposed to these hidden areas of their development. As they tend to support this hidden secrets and that’s why in almost developed societies you can see good roads, vast lands cleared, electrified, portable water suplied and farm houses all over in these Western Worlds. Thus, the result of what they produced are as follows:

i-Excessive foods productions for themselves and as well as for export to Developing Worlds like Nigeria.

ii-Animal husbandaries also for their needs and for exports.

iii-Self sufficiency assured adequately of foods requirements.

iv-Permanent peace achieved and assured.

v-Good health assured and hence they do achieve 80 or more years of life expectations as compared to 45-50 years of Africans or Nigerians life expectations.

In Africa and by extension Nigeria and my State, what we have is direct opposite. We carelessly provide our rural areas, villages or semi urban areas with:

i-Insincere means of getting excess foods productions.

ii-Insincere means of how to entice rural or village dwellers to remain in their places.

iii-Insincere encouragement in all forms of insecurities.

iv-Opening of wide doors for rural to urban drifting massively and engages in motor cycle commercial riding or Keke Napep, selling of hoarded petroleum products by the roadside, pickpocketing in the markets, motor parks and crowded areas.

v-All these results in urban chaos, food insecurities, underdevelopment and continuous dependency on foreign imports.Thereby overstretches the domestic economy.

What than are the way out.The promising Governor Umaru Mohammed Bago of Niger State is about to throw lights into Nigeria and by extension Niger State by changing these negative approaches. His Rural and Urban Renewal of massive roads rehabilitations and constructions, the upgrading of all primary Health Centers across the State and his hope of mechanization of farming in Niger State are all solutions to this neglection of rural areas, villages and semi-towns.

Once these are achieved Nigeria or Niger State will gain back the lost glories of food basket of Nigeria and of Africa. This will enhance full securities, sufficient foods, cheap food items, its availability in our markets, reduction in pressures to people and peace achieved.

Ours as peoples especially those entrusted with governmental affairs to fear God by not engaging in the following bad conducts of:

i-Criminal diversion of any form of humanitarian interventions for vulnerables under their care and watch that resulted from floods and various insecurities.

ii-Criminal diversion of public funds for self and for their cronies.

iii-Excessive profiteerings of foods items in the open markets without any form of retribution.

iv-Hoardings,smugglings,committing heneious crimes, nepotisms and useless illegal acquisitions.

I will cap these with sincere and correct admonishing which majority do not want and which wheather one likes it or not these two things are going to happen to every soul:

i- Old age.

ii-Death.

The Old age comes with signs and symptoms, so start the corrections now.But death has no signs and symptoms as it can suddenly come down unnoticed. Thus, always be on red alert and strive for good things on this earth of fantacies, deceptions and lies.
